Zhang Zhuohua, male, Han nationality, born in September 1963, from Changsha, Hunan Province. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Pathology from the University of California, San Diego. He is currently a professor at Xiangya Medical School of Central South University, President of Nanhua University, Standing Committee Member of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party, and Chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee. He is also a Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) for the 14th term and Vice Chairman of the 13th Hunan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC.

He received the National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Youth Fund in 1999, was appointed as a Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor by the Ministry of Education in 2001, and was selected as an expert in the National Overseas High-level Talent Introduction Program in 2008. He won the First Prize of the First Changjiang Achievement Award of the Ministry of Education in 1999 (ranked third), the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award in 2010 (ranked second), and the First Prize of the Hunan Provincial Natural Science Award in 2013 (ranked first). His academic positions also include Chief Scientist of the National Key Basic Research Program (973) project, member of the Disciplinary Appraisal Group of the Sixth and Seventh Sessions of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, member of the Biology and Medicine Division of the Sixth and Seventh Sessions of the Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of Education, Chairman of the Hunan Genetics Society, Honorary Professor at Flinders University in Australia, and editorial board member of international academic journals such as Journal of Neurochemistry and Biochimica et Biophysica Acta. Zhang Zhuohua mainly focuses on the research of molecular pathological mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases.
