Zhangjiajie, China -- The 6th Meeting of the Asian Organization for Mycoplasmology (AOM) was held in Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China, from August 22 to 25, 2014. The Meeting was sponsored by AOM and co-hosted by the Hunan-based University of South China and Beijing-based Capital Institute of Pediatrics. More than one hundred delegates from Japan, Indian, United States, as well as Taiwang and the Mainland of China attended the event.

AOM conference to be held by USC
The opening ceremony was chaired by Prof. Shou Chengchao with Peking University. Prof. Wen Zhongnan from Taiwang Animal Reseach Center, made the opening remarks. Also addressing the audience were Prof. Luo Yi, head of Capital Institute of Pediatrics and Prof. Li Yintaim, member of the Branch of China Medical Committee for Mircobiology and Immunology.
At the opening ceremony, three professors, two from Japan and one from China, were awarded Life Achievement Awards by Prof. Wen Zhongnan and Prfof. Wu Yimou, the executive Chairman of the Meeting, Honorary director general of AOM and vice president of USC, for their contributions to the progress in the study of Mycoplasmology in Asia and the friendly cooperation among the members of AOM.
The ceremony was followed by Key-note reports by 15 professors and scholars. Eight workshops were organized for attenders to exchange their latest research findings in mycoplasmology.
The 7th meeting of AoM is to be held in Busan, South Korea in 2017.
