University of South China Innovates Nuclear Industry Talent Cultivation Model to Create a New Paradigm of Industry-Education Integration

As a high-tech strategic industry, the nuclear industry faces practical problems such as insufficient, ineffective, and short-term use of talents. Relying on its "nuclear characteristics" in running schools, University of South China has deeply cooperated with more than 10 central enterprises including China National Nuclear Corporation, innovatively constructing a targeted talent cultivation model for nuclear industry special posts of "Four-chain Integration · Dual-element Co-cultivation · Multi-dimensional Advancement". It cultivates 100-500 "nuclear industry special post" order students annually, providing a solid talent support for the development of the nuclear industry.

The school has established a four-chain collaborative mechanism of "industry chain - education chain - talent chain - innovation chain" to achieve the effective connection between the real-time transmission of needs from nuclear industry units and the precise cultivation of the school. By taking the lead in establishing the Nuclear Energy Industry-Education Integration Innovation Alliance, both schools and enterprises jointly carry out curriculum co-construction, construction of training bases and scientific research, forming a sustainable cultivation system with in-depth integration of "teaching - production - research".

In the cultivation process, the school has constructed a four-dimensional progressive teaching system that integrates multi-dimensional capabilities. Enterprise mentors and university teachers jointly teach characteristic courses such as "Introduction to Nuclear Safety Culture", integrating the nuclear industry spirit into the entire teaching process. Focusing on the key needs of the nuclear industry, the university has established order classes in 13 majors including Safety Engineering, Nuclear Technology, and Radiation Protection, forming a new "Nuclear + X" professional group architecture. Through the construction of intelligent courses and the integration of scientific research achievements into the classroom, the school comprehensively enhances the teaching and research capabilities of teachers and students.

To strengthen practical education, the school has created a dual-line parallel practical teaching model of "school-based cultivation + enterprise pre-empowerment". It has developed 3 virtual simulation training systems, newly built 2 ministerial key laboratories, opened 3 national experimental/virtual simulation teaching centers, and jointly built more than 50 experimental platforms and innovation and entrepreneurship bases. At the same time, it has jointly built 7 off-campus training bases with China National Nuclear Corporation and core enterprises, and recruited more than 100 enterprise experts as mentors, forming a new school-enterprise integrated education paradigm.

This innovative model effectively solves the problem of disconnection between talent cultivation in the nuclear industry and industrial needs, and provides a practical sample that can be referenced for universities in promoting integration of industry and education. (End)
