Recently, the China Scholarship Council announced the notice on the approval of the International Cooperation and Training Program for Innovative Talents in 2025. The University of South China has won two projects under the International Cooperation and Training Program for Innovative Talents.

The "International Cooperation and Training Program for Innovative Talents" was established by the China Scholarship Council, aiming to increase support for the construction of first-class universities and first-class disciplines and further promote the cooperative cultivation of innovative international talents at home and abroad. The program adopts the model of "approval first, dispatch later". The university applies for projects centering on the disciplines under the national "Double First-Class" initiative, their interdisciplinary disciplines, key construction disciplines and characteristic disciplines. Every year, candidates will be selected and recommended according to the approved projects and the conditions of candidates, and then dispatched after being reviewed and admitted by the China Scholarship Council.

The "International Cooperation and Training Program for Innovative Talents in the Field of Basic Medical Research" was led by the School of Basic Medical Sciences in the application. Through the powerful alliance with the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium, the University of Calgary in Canada and the University of Maryland in the United States, it aims to cultivate a group of top innovative talents in the medical field with a solid theoretical foundation, outstanding innovative abilities, excellent international communication skills and practical application abilities.

The "International Cooperation and Training Program for Innovative Talents in Sepsis Organ Protection" was led by the Second Affiliated Hospital of the University of South China in the application. Focusing on the frontier scientific hotspots such as sepsis organ protection in basic medicine and clinical medicine, it is committed to cultivating a group of innovative senior medical talents with innovative scientific research thinking abilities, clinical practice abilities, international perspectives and cross-cultural communication abilities through carrying out innovative research cooperation with universities in Canada, the United States and Germany.

The implementation period of the two projects is three years (from 2025 to 2027). It is planned to send more than 30 doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows and young and middle-aged teachers to high-level foreign universities to conduct academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation, further promoting the cultivation of outstanding medical talents in the university, providing a more solid reserve of high-level talents for the "Double First-Class" construction, and injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of medical disciplines and the medical and health undertakings.

Up to now, our university has won a total of three projects under the International Cooperation and Training Program for Innovative Talents. The project led by the School of Nuclear Science and Technology and approved in 2021 has cumulatively funded 24 people.
