Xia Kun, male, Han ethnicity, born in April 1971, is a native of Anhua, Hunan Province. He is a member of the Communist Party of China, holds a doctoral degree, and is a researcher and doctoral supervisor. Currently, he serves as a member of the Party Committee, vice president, and director of the Organization Department of the Party Committee of University of South China.

He has successively held positions such as Deputy Director and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Medical Genetics of Central South University, Deputy Dean and Dean of the School of Life Sciences, Executive Vice Dean of Xiangya School of Medicine, and Dean (concurrently) of the School of Basic Medical Sciences.
The main research directions are the collection of pedigrees of human genetic diseases and the study of their genetic basis. More than 10 new disease-causing genes have been identified, and China's first GWAS, genome-wide CNVs study and large-sample targeted sequencing of autism have been completed, discovering nearly 100 autism risk genes, CNVs and susceptibility gene loci. He has presided over more than 20 national, ministerial and provincial projects, including the 973 Chief Scientist Project, the 863 Major Special Project, and the Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 300 papers in journals such as Nat Commun, Sci Adv, Mol Psychiatr, Circulation, Cell Res, Genet Med, Nat Genet, Nat Neurosci, and Am J Hum Genet. He has won national, ministerial and provincial awards such as the China Youth Science and Technology Award, the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award (third place), the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (sixth place), the Second Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award (third place), the First Prize of Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (third place), and the First Prize of Hunan Provincial Natural Science Award (fifth place).
