Zhang Yalei, professor with Tongji University, Shanghai, graduated from the then Zhongnan Institute of Science and Technolgy as a major in civil engineering in 1993.

Zhang is now listed as one of the "Pioneering Talents in Science and Technolgy", a projected launched by the Department of Organization of Central Committee of the Party in 2013.
