Educational Background
· Graduated from the Department of Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology of Hengyang Medical College (now the University of South China) in 1985.
· Graduated from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in 1991 and obtained a Master of Medicine degree.
· Obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in 1996.
Work Experience
· From 1985 to 1988, served as a resident physician at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hengyang Medical College in Hunan.
· From 1994 to 2001, served as the deputy director of the department at the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences.
· From 2001 to 2002, served as the vice president of the Peking University Ophthalmic Center (Lam Woo) Eye Hospital.
· From 2003 to 2005, served as the deputy director of the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center of Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences.
· From 2006 to 2017, served as the dean of the School of Medicine of Xiamen University.
· From 2019 to present, served as the director of the Ophthalmology Department of the Xiang'an Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen University.
· From 2023 to present, served as the director of the Innovation Center for Basic Research on Dry Eye Medicine of the Ministry of Education.
Social Positions
· Director of the Board of the International Society of Ocular Surface and Tear Disorders (in 2023).
· President of the Asian Dry Eye Society (in 2018).
· Chairman of the Ophthalmology Special Committee of the Cross-Strait Medical and Health Exchange Association (in 2015).
· Head of the Ocular Surface and Dry Eye Group of the Ophthalmologist Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association (in 2019).
Main Achievements
· Established the first ocular surface disease center in China - the Ocular Surface Disease Research Center of Sun Yat-sen University.
· Presided over more than 20 funds at all levels including the National Key Research and Development Program.
· Edited and co-edited nearly 10 monographs such as Corneal Topography, Ocular Surface Disease Science, and Dry Eye, and published more than 100 papers.
· Won multiple awards such as the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (three times), the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education, and the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of Guangdong Province.
