From July 25th to 28th, the finals of the 18th "Higher Education Cup" National College Students' Advanced Mapping Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition (referred to as "Advanced Mapping Competition") were held in the main venue of Taiyuan University of Technology and provincial sub-venues. The team of University of South China participated in the competition of machinery, electronics and architecture, and finally won 14 first prizes, 18 second prizes and 13 third prizes in individual all-around. Among them, two teams in the mechanical category won the first prize and the second prize of the team respectively, which continued our school's outstanding achievements of winning the first prize of the national team for five consecutive years in the mechanical track of this competition.

This competition attracted more than 15,500 students from 1,001 colleges and universities across the country to compete on the same stage, and adopted the "online + offline" integration mode. Our school's team is led by Chen Wenbo, vice president of the School of Mechanical Engineering. After nearly a year's systematic training and careful guidance from Zhou Rongan, Fu Chunming, Huo Shaoyong, Wen Qun, Shen Longzhang and other teachers from the Engineering Graphics Teaching and Research Section, on the basis of the Hunan qualifiers in May. 56 students stood out to participate in the national competition. With their solid professional foundation, excellent innovative design and 3D modeling ability, they have achieved excellent results in competitions with strong players.

The competition aims to stimulate college students' engineering design innovation ability and graphics application ability, promote the reform and development of graphics education, and realize "promoting learning, innovation and teaching through competition". Since 2018, this competition has been continuously selected into the "National College Discipline Competition Ranking" published by China Higher Education Association, and has become one of the most influential discipline competitions in the field of graphics in China. The outstanding performance of our students in this competition fully reflects the school's profound accumulation in engineering graphics education and innovation ability cultivation, and also shows the excellent quality of college students in the integration of professional technology and practice in the new era. The school will continue to adhere to competition as the traction, promote teaching reform and innovative talent cultivation, and help students grow into talents.
