On September 26, 2018, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019 was published with more than 1250 universities in the world listed. University of South China, as one of the 72 universities from mainland China on the list, ranks 65th tied with other universities for the first time.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which is regarded as one of the most influential organizations in the world university rankings, is the only global university performance table to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
