Wuhan, April 12, 2014 __ University of South China came out third in Central China Zone of the 4th National Medical Student Contest of Clinical Skills, which makes a record since the contest was first held in 2011. Nineteen medical colleges and universities from the provinces of Hunan, Hubei and Henan entered for the contest, with the Central South University (Changsha) first and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Wuhan) second. Morever, the contestants from USC got five out of ten prizes for Single performances, namely, thoracentesis, male catheterization, scalp intravenous injection, external pelvimetry and ECG.
The team of USC was made up of four contestants, Zhang Yening, Peng Qunyong, Li Yanghong and Chen Jingfei, with Prof. Wang Yi, vice-director of No 2 Hospital of USC, as the chef de mission.
The administration of the university, as well as the leaders of No.2 Hospital, had attached great importance to the preparations for the contest, a top national one of the largest scale and far-reaching influence.
The good result is not only an admission ticket to the final Contest to be held in Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou) in May, but also the quality index of the school's medical eduation, which dates back to 1958, when Hengyang Medical College was founded.
